This deck features Deckorators® Voyage decking in Costa, complemented by a black picture-frame border for a clean, defined look. We paired it with 36" textured black Westbury® aluminum railings and added a matching deck board drink rail for both function and style.

This deck showcases the Deckorators® Summit line in the color Boulder. For added safety and a more substantial feel, the main deck railing was built to 42" high instead of the standard 36".

This deck features Deckorators® Voyage decking in Costa, paired with a bronze 36" Westbury® railing system. While we typically use 4" posts for their added strength and stability, this project uses 2.5" posts to create a slimmer, more modern look.
We frame all of our decks with joists spaced 12" on center, regardless of the decking material. We intentionally overbuild to ensure strength and longevity—12" spacing allows for higher load capacity and gives the deck a solid, sturdy feel.
This tighter spacing also helps reduce board movement, minimizing warping and waviness over time.
We’ve transitioned most of our deck framing to ProWood TrueFrame® joists, rather than standard pressure-treated lumber. These joists are made from #1-grade boards, kiln-dried, and precision-cut to a consistent size to help minimize warping.
In our experience, TrueFrame® joists are well worth the investment. When installing high-quality decking, it’s essential that the underlying structure is built to support it for years to come.
We protect all joists and framing components by applying joist tape or a specialized joist coating. This added layer helps prevent moisture intrusion, extending the life of the structure by reducing the risk of rot.
We also flash all ledger boards where they connect to the home, ensuring water is directed away and doesn’t collect behind the ledger.

No matter which decking options you choose, there are countless ways to elevate the look of your deck. In the image shown, Deckorators Voyage Costa is paired with a Deckorators Picture Frame board to create a striking accent feature.
These “breaker boards” do more than just add visual appeal—they can also be strategically placed to eliminate butt seams in your decking. The result is a cleaner layout and a more refined, high-end finish.

We finish our stairs with the same level of detail as the main deck surface. Each board is carefully mitered, and we take the time to plan our layout to minimize exposed end grain. This approach creates a cleaner, more seamless look and elevates the overall craftsmanship of the project.

As shown to the left, this deck features a variety of subtle details that may go unnoticed at first—but once seen, they’re truly appreciated. One of those details is the intentional use of varied board widths. In this design, 7.25" boards are combined with 5.5" boards to create a more dynamic and custom appearance.

We’ve found that our customers love aluminum railings for their durability and low maintenance. Not only are they strong and long-lasting, but they also won’t rot, warp, or degrade over time—making them a reliable and attractive choice for any deck.

A drink rail is a great addition to any deck. By adding a deck board to the top of the railing, we create a convenient space for setting drinks, leaning, or simply enjoying the view of your backyard.
